Mike Richards, who is known for being the host of Jeopardy, has come out and apologised after his previous jokes had caused outrage online.

The saga had occurred during Mike’s time as a host of the ‘The Randumb Show,’ from 2013-14. It was here where he had allegedly claimed that women who wore swimsuits were made to “look really frumpy and overweight.”

Not only that, but he claimed that his co-host Beth Triffon should have auditioned for Taiwanese roles due to her short height. But the huge uproar from the public has caused him to come out and address it.

In an official statement given to The Ringer, he said: “It is humbling to confront a terribly embarrassing moment of misjudgment, thoughtlessness, and insensitivity from nearly a decade ago.

“Looking back now, there is no excuse, of course, for the comments I made on this podcast, and I am deeply sorry.” Despite the apology, Mike will have to be careful for several reasons.

First of all, the current cancel culture we are living in has made it a very dangerous time for celebrities. Any mistake could lead to a career being over.

Not only that, but Mike also has a history of controversy, as shown during his time as a producer on The Price Is Right. He was accused of engaging in discriminatory behaviour and suffered a lawsuit.

Nevertheless, he has taken steps to clear this up by removing those statements. He added: “Even with the passage of time, it’s more than clear that my attempts to be funny and provocative were not acceptable, and I have removed the episodes.”

Some fans, though, have not accepted his apology. This was seen on Instagram in response to Mike’s excitement at hosting Jeopardy. In the comments section, one fan claimed how the hate comments were being deleted to make Mike look popular.

The user stated: “They are deleting comments. Nobody wants Mike Richards.” Time will tell whether there are any further repercussions for Mike, but the only thing he can do in the meantime is try to move forward from this.

We will have to see how this will all play out. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish. Please also visit The Go To Family for all of the latest exciting news on all of your favourite daytime television soaps.
