Jana became hugely dissatisfied in her marriage after Mike had failed to honour his promises of being a faithful husband. And after having raised two kids during their five-year marriage, the attention had turned to how the duo would navigate their parenting post-divorce. In a post to her fans on Instagram, Jana revealed how the experience has been a mixed bag.
She said: “It’s going as good as it can in the early days. There’s a lot of emotions and feelings. I think we’re doing the best we can, but it definitely sucks.” Things have been made extremely difficult for the following reasons. First of all, Jana is seeing a therapist in order to get over the trauma of her divorce. Mike had reportedly suffered from a huge sex addiction, which had a negative impact on her.
Not only that, Jana’s kids are old enough to understand that their father is no longer in the house. That has added the extra burden of coming up with an explanation for them. She stated: “[It is] super tough…For Jolie, I kept reminding her how much we love her and giving her a lot of love.” And it is going to take some time before Jana is entirely comfortable with Mike taking on this new role.
After all, he has some issues to get through as well. Mike has reportedly considered getting help for his sex addiction in the hope that it will reform him for any future relationship that he has. In addition, he has not found it easy to live up to his commitments of trying to see the kids as much as possible. After all, it has gotten a bit too much for Jana.
In a prior episode of her Whine Down podcast, she revealed: “The other day he asked me, ‘Hey, do you want to do birdhouses…and I got struck with this emotion, you know, like, this isn’t real. I’m not ready to do this yet.” It is still early days, but we are backing the duo to work things out for the sake of their kids.
