Jamie Lynn Spears has revealed her family dynamics in the run-up to the release of her memoir entitled ‘Things I Should Have Said.’

Jamie Lynn Spears Speaks Out-‘I’ve Only Ever Tried To Be Helpful’

It is no secret that Jamie and her sister Britney Spears are not on the best of terms which was confirmed when the latter decided to unfollow Jamie on Instagram.

This had been based on the apparent grounds that Jamie, much like other members of her family, had not done enough in order to aid Britney prior to her conservatorship victory.

But given that Britney has been speaking out in the aftermath of the court decision, Jamie felt that it was only fair to get her side of the story across and thus clear up any misconceptions.

In an interview with People magazine, Jamie said: “I’ve only ever tried to be helpful, so any notion that says the contrary is just completely ridiculous.”

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and looking back, there are always going to be suggestions that people could have done more for Britney. And yet, it is also important to remember the following things.

First of all, Jamie is a mother to two children: Maddie and Ivey. Therefore, it is understandable that her priorities would be more inclined towards her children rather than her sister.

Secondly, given that Jamie was very young at the time that Britney was going through her issues, that also should be taken into account when judging her.

She added: “My sister was going through a hard time, I was still a child, and that’s what everybody, I think, forgets: I was just a kid going through my own crap.”

Despite criticisms being directed towards Jamie, the very fact of the matter is that she had nothing to do with the conservatorship. In fact, she even went as far as stating that she was offered the position to be a part of it but decided to turn it down.

In this way, she can at least hold her head up high in that regard. She continued: “I was asked to be a part of [the conservatorship], and I took time, and I declined it nicely…I just wanted to remain her sister, very simply.”

Hopefully with time, Jamie and Britney can patch things up. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
