James Franco has stated that his relationship with his former friend Seth Rogen is most likely over.
James Franco Admits That He And Seth Rogen ‘Don’t Have Any Plans To Work Together’ Following The Sexual Misconduct Allegations
James, for his part, has had to deal with a lot of scrutiny of late following the fallout from his 2018 sexual misconduct allegations. The actor would go on to settle the case by paying his former students Sarah Tither-Kaplan and Toni Gaal over 2 million dollars.
Although that has put the case to bed once and for all, the very fact of the matter is that he has lost a friend who had been so close to him for over a decade. And that is something that he looks back on with regret.
After all, Seth would have been someone that would stick by him. In an interview with Jess Cagle, James said: “We aren’t working together right now and we don’t have any plans to work together.”
This is very understandable for the following reasons. First of all, cancel culture has made it so that any mistakes which someone has made are magnified.
And this does not have to be something that an individual has done. By simply associating with people who are being accused of wrongdoing, it can lead to a career being damaged.
We only have to look at what has emerged in response to people who continue to defend director Woody Allen, despite claims made by his daughter that she had been abused by him as a child.
Secondly, a quick glance at social media tells you everything you need to know. James has alienated a large proportion of his fan base, and this is going to have a significant impact on his career going forward.
One person on Twitter wrote: “[He is] a showbiz phoney! Don’t believe this sexual predator!” With all things, time can play a significant factor in all of this.
If James continues to show remorse and takes efforts to rehabilitate himself through his issues, then he may end up getting more sympathy. But as of now, we are a long way away from that. And that is something that James will have to live with.
