There’s been a lot of speculation on whether or not Brian Laundrie, the ex-boyfriend of Gabby Petito is even still alive at this point. At first it was thought that he disappeared into a national forest and ended his own life there, but if he were dead, you’d think by now we would have discovered a ‘body of proof’ if you will.
Because dead bodies do not get up and walk away. However, there are circumstances in which they can’t or won’t be found for decades, one of them being wild animals.
Is Brian Laundrie even alive?
If Brian Laundrie decided to end his life in a Florida reserve somewhere, there are a ton of alligators that would be more than willing to be nature’s clean-up crew and we wouldn’t be any wiser. If he did indeed end his earthly journey in a Florida Reserve, it could be weeks, months, years, or even decades before we actually know what happened to him.
For instance, there was an alligator recently discovered in Mississippi that had arrowheads from 6,000 BC in it’s stomach, however that was not human bone and it was because alligators have a tendency to eat “grit” to help them better digest their food.
There are also predators like Florida Panthers, but while they might attack humans (especially if one had a litter of cubs) it might not succeed in actually killing a human.
There’s also instances of people who own Big Cats and hey, there’s a few Big Cat Preserves down in Florida as well but unless Laundrie was really desperate, it seems unlikely that he would choose leaping into a cage full of big predators in order to end his life, Colisuem style.
What we do know about Big Cats, or at least Tigers, is that if one of them eats you, there is literally nothing left because their stomachs are so acidic. (Thanks, Tiger King.) There are also Bears in Florida, a fact that we weren’t initially aware of. It’s said that the bears in Florida aren’t overly aggressive but should definitely be given space and will attack if provoked.
An unlikely Florida predator would be a Python, but the only documentation we can find of a Python eating a human has happened in Indonesia, not in Florida.
In 2017, Indonesia, a grown, 25 yar old man was swallowed whole by a python, in 2018 the same fate happened to an adult Indonesian woman, it’s unclear if it was the same python but that’s frightening to think about. But say for one minute that Laundrie is not in Florida, and went toward the Appalachian Trail instead.
The most likely predator on the Appalachian Trail would be a Bear, but unlike Florida Black Bears, who aren’t said to be all that aggressive, the Appalachian Trail also has its much larger cousin – the Grizzly, to contend with, depending on where Laundrie ended up on the Trail.
And then there’s also the phenomena that happens sometimes in National Parks in which people just disappear and are never heard from again. It’s like they are literally vaporized from existence. Although, granted, most of them usually don’t have a nationwide FBI manhunt after them either.
While largely unsubstantiated, there are the claims of the unexplainable creatures on the Appalachian Tail itself, and there is the phrase, “If you see something, no you didn’t.” and the advice to keep walking and don’t run, because they’re always faster.
But one could see where one who’s on the run from the police wouldn’t actually know about that and they might have ran… it’s always advisable not to run away from a predator because they will give chase, no matter what it is. You’d think a seasoned outdoorsman would know that, but it’s easy to see where one would forget.
Chances are, the FBI is right and Laundrie is somewhere being helped by someone, we hope that he’s found soon, but if he isn’t… well… sometimes karma serves up its own justice. Stay tuned!!!
