Idris Elba thought that he had been shot on the set of ‘American Gangster’ during a scene with none other than Denzel Washington.

That is according to the film’s director Ridley Scott. These comments raise further concerns about the safety of guns on set, given the recent Alec Baldwin prop gun incident, which ended up killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza.

But unlike the events that had transpired on the set of ‘Rust,’ luckily for everyone involved, Idris was not injured. During an interview with the Daily Mail, Ridley said: “This is a gun with a solid barrel. There is no aperture.

“I would never risk it. But when you pull the trigger, there’s a recoil. There’s no blank, nothing. So I said, ‘I want you to lean on the gun. “Idris thought he’d been shot.'”

Although Idris walked away without any injuries, it is clear that something needs to be done to stop real tragedies from happening.

And it looks as though Alec is going to face some legal action as a result of his actions. According to reports, Alec has decided to get the help of attorney Aaron S. Dyer to help him fight any impending lawsuits.

But as for Ridley and his work, it is clear that he does take gun safety very seriously. Paul Biddiss, who happens to be a firearms expert that has worked with Ridley, spoke on how safety is paramount when it comes to working on sets.

In an official statement, he remarked: “He [Ridley] is very hot on safety. What he [Ridley] was referring to by a solid barrel is a completely filled in barrel that no bullet would be able to pass through.

“So it was a completely deactivated impractical gun as far as firing anything.” It is great to see more people speaking about the safety of guns, given that it will help to prevent another horror story from occurring.

And with that in mind, this will go on to save more lives in the future as it will urge others to take gun safety seriously. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
