Hilary Duff has blasted Russian President Vladimir Putin in response to his invasion of Ukraine.

The international community has come together to condemn the Russian attack on Ukraine on the basis that it violates international law. And these sentiments were expressed when United States President Joe Biden had uncharacteristically and out of turn branded Putin a ‘war criminal.’
And given that the conflict has decimated the lives of so many innocent people, Hilary could not contain just how much anger she had towards Putin. In a post to her fans on Instagram, she shared a series of pictures from Ukraine showing its citizens in despair over everything that they had lost.
The post was captioned by the following comments: “GREED. F–king Putin. I hope his existence is so LONELY and TORTURED and EMPTY. Money doesn’t make people happy. It can make your life easier but my only hope is by the grace of god his life is a miserable one.”
Hilary’s comments were very emotional indeed, but they are understandable given that she is a mother. And as reports have indicated a huge amount of children suffering in the conflict, whether that be from fleeing or losing close ones, Hilary was rightly affected by what she was seeing in the media.
Not only that, even those that have attempted to try and escape the country have sadly become victims of trafficking. She added: “Watching the news is excruciating. I can’t imagine day after day of this reality …I’m just sobbing thinking about this. Escaping one hell to another.”
Nevertheless, the response on social media was very critical of Hilary. This was on the basis of her hypocritical attitude towards other wars that had been conducted. And by not speaking out against them, her words lacked credibility.
One person wrote: “Did she speak out against the American campaigns against Iraq, Yugoslavia and Libya??” Regardless of what you think about Hilary, this conflict has to come to an end. And hopefully for everyone involved, that is sooner rather than later. So there you have it folks. What did you think?
