Hilarie Burton Brands Candace Cameron Bure A 'Bigot' Over Her Comments On Marriage

Hilarie Burton has bashed Candace Cameron Bure in response to the latter’s comments about marriage by calling her a ‘bigot.’

The star’s comments were made in response to Bure, who recently stated that the Great American Family network did not portray same-sex relationships at the top of its priorities. And given that Candace is known for being an ardent Christian, those comments did not sit very well with Burton.

In her comments, Hilarie said: “I don’t remember Jesus liking hypocrites like Candy. But sure. Make your money, honey. You ride that prejudice wave all the way to the bank.” Those comments were even more telling in light of Bure’s recent decision to leave the Hallmark network in April.

And as part of that process, she made around 30 movies over a period of 10 years before she joined the Great American Family network. Not only that, but Bure had previously made it clear that she was happy and ‘100 percent on board’ to work on projects that included same-sex couples.

With that being said, one of the primary reasons she joined the Great American Family network was the focus on God that the network was known for. Candace’s following comments confirmed as much: “[I] knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord.

“[I] wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment. My heart wants to tell stories that have more meaning and purpose and depth behind them.” The fans on social media were very critical towards Hilarie.

A certain subset of people felt that regardless of Bure’s views, she should not have commented about her in that way. One person wrote: “You obviously don’t remember Jesus saying anything or else you wouldn’t pass judgment on someone by calling them a bigot.”

It is fair to say that Hilarie and Candace are not on very good terms, nor is that going to change anytime soon. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
