It seems so obvious, but in the world of horror films, nothing makes sense. You’ll trip over the air when running away, get so scared you stiffen up and can’t move, or worse yet, you’ll do the one thing you’ve been told your entire life not to do.

Horror films tend to always feature the worst people in that situation, which is probably why the film follows them. All the other normal people went on about their day avoiding the situation entirely, but there are always those people.

HBO Max wanted to go over some basic rules to survive in a horror film, along with some great examples. Remember, these are things that happen in nearly every horror film, so watch the video below and take notes should you ever find yourself in one.

See what I mean? It feels so obvious, but in times like those, it never is. What’s your favorite horror movie thing that people do? I love the “investigate noises” perk. I would never, ever, ever in my right mind, ever go outside in the dark and look for a “noise”. I’ll stay right here, locked inside with a blanket, thank you.

However, we need these to happen in horror films, and we need these people to do them, otherwise, there’s not much of a horror film is there? What’d you think of the video and does it make you want to watch any of the films featured? I really need to go back and watch the original ‘The Hitcher’. I love Sean Bean, but Rutger Hauer as a deranged murderer in your car is the best.

What do you think? Do you think you would make it out alive? Let us know in the comments below.
