You might not want to tell your mother, your grandmother, your elderly aunts, your child’s pre-school teacher or any of your child’s pre-school friends what you just found out about Harry Styles’ mega hit song, “Watermelon Sugar.”

While there’s no doubt that everyone on this planet has hummed along to the song or sang the lyrics in their head, Harry Styles has finally confirmed the meaning behind the song and yes, it is totally NSFW. Here’s what you need to know.

Harry Styles Confirms The Meaning Behind “Watermelon Sugar” Is Not What You Thought At All

While performing in Nashville this past week, Harry confirmed a popular theory about the meaning of the title of his hit song “Watermelon Sugar.” “This song is about. It doesn’t really matter what it’s about,” he teased to the audience.

He continued, “It’s about, uh, the sweetness of life.” He then had the crowd sing a few lines with him before finally admitting, “It’s also about the female orgasm but that’s totally different, it’s not really relevant,” prompting fans to erupt in cheers.

In case you need a refresher, the song’s lyrics include: “I just wanna taste it, I just wanna taste it / Watermelon sugar high” and “Tastes like strawberries / On a summer evenin’ / And it sounds just like a song / I want your belly / And that summer feelin’ / I don’t know if I could ever go without.”

Back in 2019, DJ Zane Lowe had asked Harry Styles about the meaning behind the song, but the chart topper refused to give a clear answer. However, Lowe did guess that the song was about the “joys of mutually appreciated oral pleasure.”

Harry subtly replied at the time, “Is that what it’s about? I don’t know.” The New Zealand radio personality then noted, “That’s what everyone’s saying. Always good to leave it open to interpretation,” which the “Kiwi” performer agreed upon.
