The internet is a wonderland for funny and cute videos, but underneath the veneer is a darker, more menacing internet of videos. Don’t F**k With Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer, a new documentary coming to Netflix this month, December 18th will remind us all of the truly evil people in the world but how humans will come together to destroy the darkness.

What is Don’t F**ck With Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer about? According to a summary on IMDB, “When a video is posted online of a mysterious man killing two kittens, internet users across the world leap into action to find the perpetrator. Encouraged by the attention he’s receiving, the killer continues posting ever more disturbing videos, eventually crossing into murder.”

The Terrifying Case Behind ‘Don’t F**k With Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer’

In May of 2012, a horrific video was uploaded depicting the murder of a man. Before this pinnacle, many other videos were released by the uploader that featured him killing kittens in brutal fashion and the series of uploads ended up with murder. This shocked everyone, as the world came together and thus a manhunt went underway for thirty-year-old Luke Magnotta.

In December of 2014, Magnotta was convicted of first-degree murder, for the death of Lin Jun, a Chinese international student. Though Magnotta ultimately was caught and charged, the series of events that lead up to it was baffling and hard to understand.

During the hearing for Magnotta, another man, Mark Marek who ran the website that Magnotta upload the infamous video to was also charged and sentenced for allowing the post. It quickly became an international matter between China and Canada, with many Chinese questioning public safety in Canada.

The video and acts performed by Magnotta are haunting and are still found online, though no one would suggest trying to find them. Many viewers thought it was a sort of sick joke, a fake video but unfortunately, it was not.

Thankfully, for the justice of Lin Jun and the safety of everyone else, including animals, Magnotta is locked away serving a life sentence. This documentary will bring light to the other side of the story, and how people banding together through the internet to help track down the infamous murderer.

Netflix’s Don’t F**k With Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer is a three-part documentary series on Magnotta and the group of people on the internet who helped track him down. It is set to release this month, December 18, only on Netflix.
