Spotify has once again come under increasing scrutiny with the news that Graham Nash has also decided to remove his music from the platform.

Graham Nash Is The Latest Musician To Remove His Music From Spotify

The initial controversy started after Neil Young gave an ultimatum to Spotify in which he stated that they either remove his music or Joe Rogan’s podcast which has been accused of spreading misinformation surrounding Covid-19.

This was followed up by Joni Mitchell and Nils Lofgren, as they also decided to remove their music. And given that an increasing number of artists are speaking out against Spotify, there is a feeling that the platform’s days could be numbered.

In an official statement given by Graham, he said: “Having heard the Covid disinformation spread by Joe Rogan on Spotify, I completely agree with and support my friend, Neil Young and I am requesting that my solo recordings be removed from the service.”

This move is a blow to Joe Rogan, given that he had just recently apologised and stated that he would try to have a more balanced view on his show.

Although he did justify his stance on matters by virtue of the fact that he would say what he thinks without it being pre-rehearsed, the very fact of the matter is that it has not been enough to save him from criticism.

And it does look damning indeed when we look at Graham’s following comments. He added: “There is a difference between being open to varying viewpoints on a matter and knowingly spreading false information.

“The opinions publicized by Rogan are so dishonest and unsupported by solid facts.” This is bound to have an impact on Joe’s brand, given that he reportedly earns $100 million from the platform.

Therefore, the last thing that he will want is to become a victim of cancel culture, which has shown no mercy as a career can be destroyed at any moment.

It is ultimately a question of public perception, as it will depend on whether Joe’s comments have done enough to redeem him. We will have to see how this will all play out going forward in the future.
