George Lopez did not ring in the New Year as he expected.

Comedian, Lopez was performing a New Year’s Eve comedy show at the Muckleshoot Casino Resort in Auburn, Washington. However, during the matinee on New Years Eve, he began to feel ill.

Sabrina Alvarez, an eye-witness who was in the audience at Mucklshoot claimed that  Lopez was somewhere around 40 minutes into his set when he began to sweat profusely. The comedian who once had his own sitcom reportedly asked for water, however, it took several minutes before his wish was granted and he was brought a bottle.

It was around 4 in the afternoon when Gorge began to struggle, reported Alvarez who added,  “You could tell something was wrong, but it was not clear what was wrong.”

Shortly after, Lopez apologized and walked off the stage, ending the show. An ambulance was seen pulling up to the casino but it has not been confirmed if it took the 60-year-old  to hospital. The venue did announce, at around 6:45 pm local time that Lopez’s 8 pm show was cancelled. Ticketholders could get refunded or come to the next show, rescheduled for March 18.

Lopez is yet to make any statement about his condition, but he did share a post from a fan on his Instastory who had written. ‘@GeorgeLopez I hope you’re feeling much better soon,’

Lopez’s health concerns come after the stand-up comedian came under fire for not stopping one of his shows when a man in the audience collapsed. This was hot on the heels of the Astroworld tragedy where the rapper, Travis Scott continued his show, though people were being crushed to death in the audience. 10 concertgoers lost their lives that night.

In this instance, Lopez was performing his stand-up at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio when the man in the audience fainted. Though those in the audience near the man began to ask for help, Lopez continued with his set, his lack of awareness called out by many who fear no lessons were learned after the Astroworld tragedy.

We wish you a speedy recovery, George.
