Kanye West could find himself in bother over his comments surrounding George Floyd’s death.

According to reports, Floyd’s family could end up pursuing legal action over the rapper’s words surrounding his cause of death. During his comments on the ‘Drinks Champs’ podcast, Kanye made it absolutely clear that fentanyl had killed him.

This was in stark  contrast to the official cause of death. Medical experts in the field confirmed that Floyd had died from a lack of oxygen due to the fact that he had a knee placed on his neck, as he died of asphyxia.

Not only that, but since the officer at the center of scrutiny, Derek Chauvin, had been convicted of second-degree murder, second-degree manslaughter, and third-degree murder, Kanye’s comments were inflammatory.

In his comments at the time, Kanye said: “They hit him with the fentanyl. If you look, the guy’s knee wasn’t even on his neck like that.” That generated a huge reaction, as the family has now spoken out.

Kanye’s comments could have the impact of undermining the Black Lives Matter movement, which came to the front of the public consciousness following the death of Floyd. With that being said, the attorney for the Floyd family (Lee Merritt) has now reacted.

In an official statement given on behalf of the family, Merrit stated the following: “While one cannot defame the dead, the family of #GeorgeFloyd is considering suit for Kanye’s false statements about the manner of his death.

“Claiming Floyd died from fentanyl not the brutality established criminally and civilly undermines & diminishes the Floyd family’s fight.” The fans on social media felt that Kanye could face serious repercussions for his comments.

This was on the basis that Alex Jones had suffered a similar fate over his controversial statements surrounding the Sandy Hook shootings, which has now left him with a massive sum to pay. One person wrote: “Sooooo, I guess he hasn’t seen what just happened to Alex Jones?????”
