George Clooney has recalled the moment in which he proposed to his wife Amal Clooney.
George Clooney Recalls His ‘Disastrous’ Wedding Proposal To Amal Clooney
The couple, for their part, are in a really good place. They recently celebrated their 8-year anniversary. During the course of that process, they managed to raise two children: Ella and Alexander. While that may have been the case, at one point there was a serious concern as the proposal was a ‘disaster.’
Clooney recalled how he undertook extensive planning in order to make things pan out in the best way. However, Amal initially thought that the ring had belonged to one of Clooney’s ex-girlfriends. And given that they had been dating for around 6 months at the time, a proposal was the last thing on Amal’s mind.
During an interview on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” Clooney said: “It was a disaster, I planned it out, I planned the whole thing out…And she looks at it and she’s like, ‘Uh there’s a ring in there.’ Like somebody left a ring there years ago. And I’m like on my knee.”
Naturally, the situation was very awkward as it did end up dampening the mood on what should have been an otherwise romantic occasion. But once it became clear to Amal that the ring was for her, she had no hesitation in saying yes even if that occurred around 20 minutes after the whole thing.
And five months after that event, they ended up walking down the aisle as the rest was history. They ended up holding a grand wedding ceremony in Italy. The fans on social media could not help but look at the situation in a funny way, especially given that their marriage has now gone from strength to strength.
