Fans of daytime dramas are in for a familiar face with a fresh twist. Daniel Goddard, beloved for his portrayal of the charming yet often conflicted Cane Ashby on “The Young and the Restless” from 2007 to 2019, is officially setting up residence in Port Charles. The actor has signed on to join the cast of ABC’s “General Hospital,” teasing his arrival and the name of his intriguing new character via an engaging Instagram video.

General Hospital Spoilers: Daniel Goddard Joins General Hospital As As Cane Ashby Trades Genoa City for Port Charles

Goddard will step into the shoes of Henry Dalton, a captivating and enigmatic professor at Port Charles University. While his academic focus lies in the realm of environmental physics, it appears Professor Dalton carries a past shrouded in secrets, one that has placed him under some form of scrutiny. In his own words, Goddard hinted at the intrigue surrounding his new role:

“He teaches environmental physics, and it seems there are some things in his past that he’s done that have left him in a position of some form of investigation. And from there, it’s an absolute mystery to me.”

Goddard’s move to “General Hospital” marks a reunion with several familiar faces from his “Young and the Restless” days. He will be sharing the screen once again with Tristan Rogers (Robert Scorpio) and Genie Francis (Laura Collins), who famously played his on-screen parents, Colin and Genevieve Atkinson. Additionally, he will be working alongside Steve Burton (Jason Morgan), who portrayed Dylan McAvoy during Goddard’s tenure in Genoa City.

Intriguingly, Goddard revealed that the role of Professor Dalton was specifically crafted for him after he was considered for several other parts within the “General Hospital” universe. These included the recast of Jack Brennan (a role ultimately filled by Chris McKenna) and Ezra Boyle (now played by Daniel Cosgrove). The fact that a unique character was conceived with Goddard in mind suggests that the writers have exciting plans for his introduction into the Port Charles landscape.

Viewers eager to see Goddard’s next chapter unfold won’t have to wait long. Professor Henry Dalton is slated to make his debut on the “General Hospital” screens beginning April 15th, promising to bring a dose of mystery and intrigue to the already captivating dynamics of Port Charles University and the lives intertwined within the town. The arrival of a character with a hidden past, played by a seasoned and popular actor like Daniel Goddard, is sure to generate buzz and add a compelling new layer to the long-running soap opera.
