All she’s doing is speaking from the heart, but people on social media don’t want to hear it. Gal Gadot recently sparked some pretty intense backlash after she spoke about the Israel-Hamas conflict in the Middle East.

While the actress tried to call for unity for Israel and neighbors in Gaza amid their ongoing conflict, social media users accused her of being a propaganda toll for Israel. Here’s what you need to know.

The Palestinian militant group Hamas launched rockets into Israel this week, targeting Jerusalem, southern Israel, and Tel Aviv. Israel then responded by launching a series of airstrikes and also killing a top Hamas commander.

Gal Gadot Criticized For Showing Support To Her Native Israel

Gal wrote on Twitter, “My heart breaks. My country is at war. I worry for my family, my friends. I worry for my people. This is a vicious cycle that has been going on for far too long.”

She added, “Israel deserves to live as a free and safe nation, Our neighbors deserve the same. I pray for the victims and their families. I pray for this unimaginable hostility to end, I pray for our leaders to find the solution so we can live side by side in peace. I pray for better days.”

Unfortunately, Gal had to disable the comments on her post, but over 100,000 people have since quote-tweeted her message.

Some of the comments included, “Reminder Gal Gadot served in the IDF for two years where she not only witnessed the ethnic cleansing of Palestine firsthand but also actively supported it. How can you advocate to stop the vicious cycle of terror when you are standing on the frontlines enabling it #FreePalestine.”

Another one wrote, “And people really said we were exaggerating when we said boycott Gal Gadot who acts as a literal tool of propaganda for her government and the occupation forces she once served in. She can’t even say the word Palestinian. To the dustbin of history.”

So far Gal Gadot has not made any additional comments about the matter.
