They are walking in her footsteps in the hopes that they can get a sign or at least some more answers about her untimely death. Gabby Petito’s family have visited the lake where she once stopped with her boyfriend Brian Laundrie before picking up her remains.
The visit came just a few days after a medical examiner announced that the young woman had died from strangulation. Here’s what you need to know.
Gabby Petito’s Family Visit One Of Her Last Stops Before She Was Killed
Just this past week Gaby’s father Joe Petito shared an image of Jenny Lake in Wyoming, which is one of the places she last stopped at before her untimely death.
“I now know why you came here,” Joseph wrote on Twitter. “#gabbypetito has a beautiful view from now on. Love you, and miss you.”
This came after Gabby’s family traveled to Wyoming to being her remains back to New York. A nationwide manhunt for Brian Laundrie — named a person of interest in the case — is ongoing. However, the Laundrie family’s attorney Steven Bertolino has said again that Brian Laundrie is not even a suspect in Gabby’s disappearance or death for that matter.
“Gabby Petito’s death at such a young age is a tragedy,” Bertolino, said in a statement. “While Brian Laundrie is currently charged with the unauthorized use of a debit card belonging to Gabby, Brian is only considered a person of interest in relation to Gabby Petito’s demise. At this time Brian is still missing, and when he is located we will address the pending fraud charge against him.”
Gabby Petito’s cause of death was strangulation, and the manner of death was homicide. The 22-year-old was reported missing and found dead after she and her boyfriend Brian Laundrie embarked on a country-wide road trip this past summer.
However, Laundrie returned home to Florida on September 1st without his girlfriend, and 10 days before her mother reported her missing. Petito’s body was found on September 19 in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park. The coroner said DNA samples were taken by law enforcement.
