‘Friends’ actors have broken their silence about Matthew Perry. They are grieving the death of their dear friend and have released an official joint statement.
The “Friends” Cast Makes an Official Joint Statement
Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer paid tribute to fellow “Friends” actor Matthew Perry,
“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just castmates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now, we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”
The castmates continued,
“In time, we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and love are with Matt’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
Last year, after Matthew wrote his book, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” Perry praised his “Friends” costar, Jennifer Aniston, for staying in contact with him the most throughout his struggles with alcohol and addiction.
Matthew said, “She was the one who reached out to me the most. You know I’m really grateful to her for that. Perry also revealed that Aniston was the one who would comfort him and talk to him about his struggles.
A heartbreaking old clip of Jennifer Aniston talking with Diane Sawyer and breaking down crying over Matthew’s addiction and alcoholism from 2004 has resurfaced, and it is clear from that video how much she truly cares for him.
Matthew Saw Aniston Break Down in Tears
When Matthew saw it, he said that it made him question how long he would be alive. The actress broke down in tears at the thought of losing her costar and friend.
Matthew explained that Aniston was the one who confronted him while they were filming the sitcom when his addiction started to become very evident. Matthew said that it was a scary time for him.
Diane and Aniston talked about what advice she would give to each of her costars, and she had a lot of upbeat advice for everyone else. When it came to Matthew, she was at a loss for words.
She sobbed and explained that she had never dealt with that, and as a group, neither did her other castmates. She just did her best to offer Matt her friendship and guidance.
Matthew also exposed that he had a gigantic crush on Jennifer when they were still filming “Friends,” which is unsurprising.
He even admitted that he tried to impress Aniston with two acting roles he snagged, and because of that, she quickly figured out on her own that he liked her.
Perry wrote in his book,
“It was clear that this made her think I liked her too much or in the wrong kind of way. Obviously, it didn’t sour the friendship.”
Sources say that Perry was found unresponsive in his jacuzzi by his assistant. By the time first responders arrived, he was already gone. It is believed that Perry drowned, although his certified cause of death has not been verified.
Perry will be missed by his family, his many friends, from the show or otherwise, and, of course, by the fans, as he brought so much joy and laughter into the world.
