Former ‘General Hospital’ star Steve Burton has spoken out in the aftermath of leaving the show after failing to comply with their Covid-19 vaccine mandates.

Steve, for his part, had become a mainstay member of the show after having played the role of Joe Morgan. However, his time came to an end when he refused to comply with the mandates at the back end of last year.

This was something very hard to take since the show had played an integral part in his career. Steve first joined the show in 1991 and stayed on it for more than two-decades before leaving in 2012.

He then made a return to the show in 2017 before departing once again in 2021 due to the mandates. And this has naturally been hard for him to take. In an interview with Deadline, he said: “The circumstance was tough and you know, that’s just the way it is. I’ll always be grateful for my time there.

“It was my family for so long. I grew up there and the fans have always been awesome to me.”

Nevertheless, Steve had no regrets for the following reasons. First of all, he advocated the concept that freedom of choice ultimately should prevail. Therefore, it is up to each individual to decide whether or not they want to have the vaccine injected in their body. He added: “It’s a personal choice and that’s what I had to do.”

Secondly, Steve has managed to find another role since then. It was confirmed in April of this year that he had joined another hit show ‘Days of Our Lives.’ With that being said, the fans on social media praised him for continuing to stick by his decision. One person wrote: “Good for Steve standing up for his right.”

Regardless of what you think about the vaccine mandates, Steve ultimately did what was best for him. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
