Gwyneth Paltrow’s wellness company Goop has come under fire from one of its former employees Elise Loehnen.

Former Employee Of Gwyneth Paltrow’s ‘Goop’ Brand Speaks Out Against The Company-‘It Had Become Synonymous With Dieting And Restriction’

Elise, for her part, worked for the company as a Chief Content Officer.  While the company does pride itself on putting wellness at the forefront of its principles, Elise described an environment that was anything but that.

After leaving the company 2-years ago, she spoke out against the policies the company would adopt. She expanded on how the company’s guidelines made her feel unhealthy to the point where everything was being micromanaged and clearly overwhelming her.

In a post to her fans on Instagram, Elise shared a video outlining exactly how dissatisfied she was during her time there. She said: “To me, it had become synonymous with dieting and restriction.

“I felt like I was not in a healthy relationship with my body, where I was always trying to punish it [and] bring it under control.” When these comments are put into a broader context, it may explain why Gwyneth has been praised for her youthful looks despite being the age of 49.

Clearly, there is a lot of work that goes into maintaining such an appearance. Although there is nothing wrong in trying to look the best that you can possibly be, for Elise, she felt it reached a point where things were toxic. So much so that it no longer made her feel good.

She added: “I needed to break a tendency to be critical and punishing. To chastise myself. All of it. I stopped weighing myself completely.” But through it all, Leslie managed to come out of it on the other side.

She has now adopted a philosophy where she is comfortable in her own skin and has accepted that she does not necessarily have to conform to such high standards on what her body should be like, which she was clearly impacted by before.

Her following comments confirmed as much: “[I am] healthy in terms of letting go of ideas of what my body should look like as a 42-year-old who has had two kids.” If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
