Kyrie Irving’s decision to not take the Covid 19 vaccine has gotten the attention of superstar boxer Floyd Mayweather.

The Brooklyn Nets player has been prevented from playing unless he receives the vaccine. Such a decision is not only a crucial one when it comes to health, but it has also had the impact of him potentially losing up to $17 million in earnings.
One person who has given his views on the issue has been Floyd. The boxer is known for being outspoken, and while he did not say whether he is against the vaccine or not, Floyd did say that choice is an important matter.
In a video posted on his social media, the caption said: “Choice is defined as an act of selecting or making a decision when faced with two or more possibilities.
“America gave us the choice to take the vaccine or not take the vaccine. As time moves on, that choice is gradually being stripped from us.”
With that in mind, Floyd has praised Kyrie for standing up for what he believes to be true. It is not clear whether Kyrie’s actions will have an impact on influencing other NBA players, but it does show that he will not be pressured into doing anything.
Much in the same way, Floyd was criticised over his career for not fighting boxers who people deemed to be the best opponents. And given that America is known for priding itself on freedom, Floyd has called on this to be applied to all decisions, including health.
He added: “A free mind makes his own choices… It’s crazy how people hate you for being a leader. I hope your actions encourage many others to stand up and say enough is enough.
“Respect to you, Kyrie and power to the people.” Kyrie does have support on his side, but it is not clear if his stance will be able to convince the authorities to change their mind and allow him to compete.
