A family member of the deceased from the tragedy at the Astroworld concert in Houston has decided to go ahead and organise a funeral without the help of the concert’s singer Travis Scott.

The incident left a reported eight dead and many others injured. In an attempt to make up for what had gone wrong, Travis sought to offer his help by promising to cover the funeral expenses of any family who had seen their loved ones die.

According to a representative for Travis, he has promised to do the following: “He…desperately wishes to share his condolences and provide aid to them as soon as possible.

“But [he] wants to remain respectful of each family’s wishes on how they’d best like to be connected.” And yet, this offer has been knocked back by the family of Rudy Peña.

They have decided to set up a scholarship in honour of his name. But before they do that, they are hell-bent on taking Travis to court so that any potential compensation can be used for that cause.

And by doing this, they are hoping to continue Rudy’s memory by allowing somebody to go to college just as he had done so.

Rosendo Almaraz, who happens to be the attorney for the Rudy family, told TMZ the following: “Rudy’s family wants to set up a scholarship at Laredo College, where Rudy was a student.

“[He was] studying to become a Border Patrol agent via a criminal justice major. Nothing’s set in stone yet, though.”

As of now, things are going well. According to reports, the family have raised over $30,000 on a GoFundMe campaign. This would allow the family to have a proper funeral, and any money left over would naturally be directed towards the scholarship fund.

Let us hope that the family are able to generate the funds they are looking for. And in any event, the only way that they can get some closure is if somebody is held to account for what happened.

And with the number of stories coming out on a daily basis over what may have happened, things do not look good for Travis. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
