We have already been treated to one adapted version of the X Factor this year, but hot on the heels of the successful celebrity version, it is back again. Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger return to the judges’ table as they look to form a new band to take the world by storm.
The X Factor has enjoyed more success than any other reality show when it comes to creating globally recognised bands. One Direction and Little Mix are two of the biggest success stories, while Rak-Su and JLS also achieved domestic success in the United Kingdom charts.
The X Factor: The Band
There is a sense that this show has been rushed somewhat due to the announcement that Little Mix would also be headlining their own show on the BBC that will be looking to form a new band. The winners of the competition will get different prizes; with winning of the BBC show getting to go on tour with the girl band. Meanwhile, Cowell’s show will once again see the winning group awarded with a multi-million dollar recording contract with Syco.
It is still unclear how the X Factor version of the show will work, but it is likely that the format will remain unchanged from every other version of the show. That will mean that we will have a couple of weeks of auditions where we will first meet the hopefuls, before boot camp and then live shows. With the latter of these likely to take place before Christmas.
Big Week For Cowell and X Factor
Cowell decided to shake the X Factor up this year after the worst viewing figures since its inception last year. The celebrity edition was a great success, and ITV has rewarded the business mogul with a new five-year deal. This band version of the show will be the first since the signing of that deal.
The show’s rush to be brought to air could focus around the fact that Cowell has recent lost Little Mix from his agency, and now needs a new band to stay at the top of the sector. He has pledged to bring forward a new band in record-breaking time, with the final likely to air on the 15th December.
Whether they will be able to follow in the footsteps of One Direction, Little Mix and Fifth Harmony remains to be seen. The X Factor will once again return next year with an all-star show, which means fans of talent shows will be getting their fair share of Cowell over the coming months.
