Boston Celtics player Enes Kanter has been making waves on social media lately as he continues to voice his opinion on a variety of injustices and human rights issues around the world. He’s generally been one of the more outspoken people in the league and most recently called out the president for meeting with the Chinese government.

On Sunday, Kanter shared a tweet suggesting that his lack of playing time is correlated with his political opinions and sounding off on social issues. The veteran has only seen game time in 2 of the team’s 13 games, playing a total of 10 minutes. However, was he benched because of his political opinions, or because of a switch of the game plan?

Kanter also captioned the tweet, “Keep limiting me on the court, I will expose you off the court.” Is Kanter trying to say he has dirt on the Celtics or possibly the NBA as a whole? They have been notoriously in good relations with China, something that many people despise, but what does this tweet mean?

Was Boston Celtics Enes Kanter Benched For Political Or Basketball Reasons?

When asked about Kanter’s tweet, coach Ime Udoka said it was because of ‘basketball’ reasons including his inability to switch defensively. With Kanter being a 13-year veteran, could it just be that age is catching up with him? Plus, with three other big men in front of him, like Robert Williams, Al Horford, and Grant Williams, he would logistically see the floor less.

With Boston having several other people ahead of him on the depth chart and a game plan that doesn’t rely on Kanter’s rebounding abilities, it seems that he’s found the bench because of that. Not for being outspoken on different issues. Kanter has every right to speak out on whatever he pleases, but it seems that it is not the reason he’s being benched.

What do you think? Do you think Ens Kanter has dirt on the NBA or do you think he’s blowing this out of proportion? Let us know in the comments below.
