Elon Musk has strongly disapproved of President Joe Biden’s offer to exchange Brittney Griner for another individual while Paul Whelan, a former United States Marine, remains in a Russian prison.
Elon Musk Slams Joe Biden For Freeing Brittney Griner And Ignoring US Marines-‘Never Leave A Marine Behind’
On Thursday, 8th December 2022, the president declared that the American government had managed to free Griner in exchange for a Russian arms dealer, Viktor Bout. With that being said, Musk did not take too kindly to how Biden had acted. In his comments, he said: “Never leave a Marine behind. Never.”
Nevertheless, Biden affirmed that he has not overlooked Whelan, who has been detained for the past four years in a Russian jail on espionage allegations which American officials assert are baseless, and promised he would remain committed to getting the ex-Marine back to his homeland.
Nonetheless, a multitude of people have expressed their disapproval of Biden, claiming that the president values the star’s welfare more than he does the freedom of the American serviceman, who is facing another 12 years in prison.
Republican Mike Waltz had this to say: “Where is US Marine Paul Whelan, who has been unjustly held by Russia for far longer? Celebrities over veterans?” The response on social media was much the same.
A significant proportion of people could not fathom why Brittney had gotten more resources when other personnel that had served for their country were being left by the wayside.
And in the process of doing so, they slammed the current president. One person wrote: “Does it surprise anyone that the Biden regime would leave a Marine behind after they abandoned Americans in Afghanistan?”
This is not a good PR look for Biden, which is why it is vital that some action is taken. But if the Russian regime has shown anything, it is that they are hard to deal with. And that is something that is not going to change anytime soon.
