The country has been ravaged by war ever since Russia decided to invade under the leadership of Vladimir Putin. This has resulted in backlash amongst the international community, but it has also been accompanied by numerous fundraising initiatives around the world.

And it is only natural that musicians have now taken up the mantle with the news that Ed Sheeran and Camila Cabello are just some of the names set to perform at an event entitled ‘Concert For Ukraine.’

Reports indicate that the money raised will be used for the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. And if all things go ahead as planned, the concert is set to take place in England, specifically Birmingham, on 29th March.

And given by the reactions of the two performers mentioned, this is the least that they could do. In response, Camila said: “My heart is breaking for the people of Ukraine. As refugees from Ukraine join millions of other displaced people around the globe, we all have a responsibility.”

Much in the same way, Ed also spoke about the need to take action. That is why he has decided to reportedly team up with a Ukrainian band (Antytila) who would like to join the concert remotely from Kyiv.

With that in place, Ed was looking forward to showing solidarity along with the millions around the world. In his statement, he remarked: “I just want to say to all Ukrainians that I love you, I stand with you, and I am so proud to be playing this fundraising event next week.”

The response on social media was very positive. People applauded the musicians that came forward, as well as expressing the excitement at what promises to be a great event. One person wrote: “I think this is great.

“Not always a fan of the Hollywood/Celebrity sect but I think their voices need and can be heard by the citizens of Russia.” So there you have it folks. What did you think about this?
