Residents of Walford may have been forgiven for thinking that the ruthless tirade of Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) may have come to an end after an explosive festive period on EastEnders. However, it would seem that it has only just begun, and there could be more misery on the horizon.

Phil’s Christmas was action-packed as he learned the truth behind Sharon’s (Letitia Dean) pregnancy, and he then unleashed a bitter tirade against Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters), with the father of the unborn baby viciously murdered. However, Phil will learn over the coming weeks that Keanu isn’t really dead as one of his closest allies allowed Keanu to flee the country unharmed.

EastEnders Spoilers: Phil’s Life In Balance

It hasn’t been the easiest couple of months for Phil, but finding out that his wife had been having an affair and that the baby that she was carrying wasn’t really his, and instead, it was his daughter’s boyfriend. His response was brutal as he vowed to kill Keanu, and he also kicked out Sharon from their house.

It was revealed in the New Year’s Day episode that Keanu was actually alive, after being released. That could spell trouble for Phil in the future as Keanu could return and bring Phil’s empire to a dramatic fall. He will also be dealt with a huge blow when his daughter Louise (Tilly Keeper) leaves Walford for good. But, could this mean that Phil returns to drinking as a way of a release?

EastEnders Spoilers: Phil’s Closest Allies Leaving

As well as Louise, Lisa Fowler (Lucy Benjamin) will also be leaving the soap pretty soon, while will mean that Phil will find himself all alone with nobody left to turn too. This has already seen various rumours of shocking returns, with Ross Kemp one of the big-name actors that could be set to make a return.

Viewers are also concerned over what the departures could mean for his long-term health. Fans of the show will know about Phil’s alcohol problems, which meant that he needed a liver transplant to survive. That has meant that he hasn’t been able to drink his problems away, as that could put him on the path to death. But, with the shocking departures, could Phil be about to make a devastating decision and hit the bottle to avoid feeling lonely?
