Dylan John, the reggae artist whose outsized ego famously clashed with Diddy and Wyclef Jean on the second season of “Making the Band,” has found himself in legal trouble after allegedly slapping a man.

According to an arrest warran, Dylan was arrested on April 3rd in Wake County, North Carolina, following an alleged altercation. The report from the Apex Police Department states that Dylan “willfully struck” a man named Paul Joseph Galullo by twice smacking him across the face with an open hand.

Law enforcement sources further clarified to TMZ that the incident occurred at their workplace. Surveillance footage reportedly captured Dylan slapping Galullo on two separate occasions, leading to the issuance of the arrest warrant and Dylan’s subsequent apprehension.

Dylan was charged with simple assault, a misdemeanor. He was released on the same day after posting a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 1st.

The dancehall artist gained significant notoriety during his time on “Making the Band” for his frequent creative disagreements and confident pronouncements, particularly his memorable declaration of being one of the “top five of all time” when asked to introduce himself. His portrayal on the show became a pop culture touchstone, famously parodied by Dave Chappelle in a recurring sketch on “Chappelle’s Show.” Dylan has previously expressed his belief that the Chappelle’s Show skits negatively impacted his music career.

This arrest marks another chapter in the post-“Making the Band” saga of an artist who, despite his undeniable confidence, struggled to achieve mainstream musical success. The incident serves as a reminder of Dylan’s volatile persona, which was a central element of his memorable, albeit short-lived, stint in the Diddy-helmed music competition.

That's how he first discovered the wickedly delicious beauty of the sinuous storylines that make the soap opera world. He had to take a break for some time due to other life commitments but he's back to watching Soap Operas and looks forward to writing about them each and every day.
