Drew Barrymore has defended herself against Hugh Grant’s criticism of her singing in the movie “Music and Lyrics,” which they both starred in back in 2007.
Drew Barrymore Reacts After Hugh Grant Trashes Her Singing-‘I’ve Heard Dogs Bark Better Than She Sings’
During the promotion of his latest film “Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves,” Grant was asked a set of questions related to his name searched on Google.
In one of those questions, he was asked if he actually sang in the movie with Barrymore. Grant answered the question in affirmation with the following comments: “I’m auto-tuned a bit, not as much as some.
“Drew Barrymore was in that film with me, and I don’t think she’d mind me saying her singing is just horrendous … I’ve heard dogs bark better than she sings.”
Grant’s comment towards Barrymore appeared to be lighthearted, and she responded by posting a video on Instagram where she mimicked using a hairbrush as a microphone and sang a tune from the 2007 romantic movie “Way Back Into Love.”
Although her singing was not top-notch without the assistance of auto-tune, she seemed to be enjoying herself as she smiled at the camera.
She could be heard saying the following: “Oh Hugh, Bert, Hubert, that’s for you.” Although some individuals were upset by Grant’s remark about Barrymore’s vocal abilities, the majority of people interpreted it as a humorous remark about a former colleague.
However, his recent interview with model Ashley Graham at the Academy Awards did not receive the same leniency and has since become widely circulated online.
Ashley asked the actor some routine questions and he gave brief replies. While chatting, Graham asked the actor about his favorite part of the Oscars, and Grant replied that he found it fascinating to see a diverse group of people gathered in one place, referring to it as a “vanity fair.”
Additionally, Grant was asked if he had any favorites to support, but he replied that he didn’t have a specific favorite.
And his lack of enthusiasm did not go down well. One person at the time had stated the following: “Is Hugh Grant just an arrogant d— all the time?”
With that being said, Grant’s comments have not been well received, showing that he is not the most popular star at the moment, which is why keeping a low profile may be key.
