It looks like Dr. Phil McGraw, TV advice guru is finally leaving the airwaves after 21 years. This isn’t he only change to the daytime landscape we’ll be seeing in 2023, it looks like the Ellen DeGeneres show, and Wendy Williams have already ended, they ended in the latter part of 2022.

Dr. Oz’s show and the Maury Povich show have also ended. Dr. Oz and the Maury Povich show also went on the chopping block this year.

The thing is he will still be on television in some markets, but the shows will only be repeats of his last 2022-2023 episodes. Dr. Phil could continue to be on the air for a pretty long time, ala Judge Judy, another syndicated program that is still airing, even though the last new episode aired in 2021.

Dr. Phil finally leaving the airwaves after 21 years

Dr. Phil issued a statement on Thursday, saying that he had over 25 years in television and gave himself a pretty loud pat on the back saying that he had helped thousands of guests and millions of viewers through his television platform, from mental Illness, to problems with addiction, parenting challenges, and marriage.

He says  that this has been an incredible chapter in this life and career but that he is moving on from daytime however there is so much more that he wishes he could do. Up until recently, Dr. Phil was the most watched syndicated daytime TV show, until Live with Kelly and Ryan took over the airwaves.

Having his own show is not the only feather in Dr. Phil’s cap. He served as an executive producer on The Doctors and Daily Mail TV, both shows that have both ended. He also worked on the show “So Help Me Todd”, and currently has plans with King World and CBS to have more primetime programming.

President of CBS Media Ventures says, “Steve Locascio CBS Media Ventures, said in a statement. “Phil changed the daytime landscape as the force behind one of the most popular talk shows ever on daytime TV – We plan to be in the Dr. Phil business with the library for years to come and welcome opportunities to work together in the future.” We’ll keep an eye on future Dr. Phil titles. Stay tuned!!!
