According to fresh reports, Don Lemon will not be on the air to begin the new week, and his future at CNN appears to be in jeopardy as a result of his sexist remark.
According to the Daily Beast, which cited insiders with knowledge of the situation, Lemon will skip Monday’s ‘CNN This Morning’ show and will instead enjoy the President’s Day holiday. According to reports, his upcoming absence was not planned previous to Thursday.
Don Lemon Missing On Monday’s CNN Morning Show Following Comment About Nikki Haley
Instead of Don, the two anchors will be Poppy Harlow and Sara Sidner… with Kaitlin Collins, another frequent co-host, stationed in Poland for coverage. According to DB, the Monday on-air schedule was distributed to CNN employees over the weekend. Not only that, but according to the outlet, Lemon’s position at CNN is apparently up in the air at the moment, with one of the cited insiders saying his future at the network is being debated at the highest levels, while also adding “He is a constant distraction.”
In any event, it appears that there will be some changes in the near future. We’d already reported that Don called into a staff meeting on Friday to apologize, but it didn’t go over well with the recipients, with insiders telling us that many took it as him patting himself on the back. CNN’s new boss, Chris Licht, is said to be unhappy about the Nikki Haley remark, saying, “His remarks were upsetting, unacceptable, and unfair to his co-hosts, and ultimately a huge distraction to the great work of this organization.”
Remember, Licht was the one who booted Don from his coveted primetime slot in the first place and the fact that he’s still unhappy with DL doesn’t auger well.
