We’re starting to get the feeling that Disney is caught in a game of “Hold my Beer” with their constant run of bad decisions and ideas. That’s assuming the reports from The Hollywood Reporter are correct.

The news came with Disney’s announcement that their reimaging of the 1937 cartoon would be pushed back from March 2, 2024 to March 21, 2025 to fix their mistake by compounding it even more as they seemingly remain tone deaf.

The movie drew a lot of heat initially for the seven dwarfs, an already marginalized group, being removed for a “diverse cast” as well as fan questioning them having Rachel Zegler as Snow White.

The criticism follows the current trend of race and gender swapping roles for representation instead of creating new roles and movies.

Since Snow White was named that because her skin was “white as snow” it’s a sound argument. It’s also been argued that race and gender swapping is lazy as it’s saying minorities and women can’t succeed in roles that aren’t already established.

The debate has raged for over a decade and doesn’t look like it’s going to end any time soon.

    Why not hire real dwarfs?

Getting back to their removal/changing of the dwarfs, this was a topic Piers Morgan discussed, and we recommend tuning out most everything but what dwarf actor and professional wrestler Dylan Postl says as he talks about Disney originally taking roles away from his community.

He makes some very good points when he’s given the chance.

With Disney claiming to want representation, it’s curious how when given a second chance they’re reported decided to go the CGI route instead of bringing in dwarf actors.

This flies in the face of the argument they make for wanting representation and even if they want to have the dwarfs fit the original cartoon more, they still could’ve done that with real dwarfs.

With any luck, this may just be an artist’s rendering as to what they’re looking for in hiring dwarf actors for the roles, but given their track record we’re not holding our breath.

In the end, it seems like Disney can’t do anything right as their properties have been losing them money as audiences have grown fatigued with the constant run of sequels and super hero movies, not to mention how they’ve dismantled fan favorite franchises like Star Wars.

It’ll be interesting to see what they final results are, but recent history doesn’t bode well on their crafting of the movie and its success.

Should Disney use real dwarfs? Let us know in the comments below.
