Director Michael Patrick King has confirmed that Chris Noth will not be making an appearance in the season finale of the ‘Sex and the City’ spin-off ‘And Just Like That.’

Earlier reports had indicated that Chris could have been making a cameo appearance in the finale, but this all changed in the aftermath of the sexual assault allegations that he is facing. An alleged four women have come forward to claim that Chris had sexually assaulted them.

Although Chris has denied doing anything of the sort, it was clear that the show had no choice but to remove him until an investigation concluded that he was innocent.

After all, it would have ultimately damaged the reputation of the show. With Chris now out of the picture, Michael feels the show can do itself justice.

In an interview with Variety, Michael said: “I wanted the show to be focused on the stories of these amazing actresses and their efforts in these last 10 episodes.

“And I didn’t want the entire story to be about whether someone was or wasn’t in the show.” Although Michael was doing what he thought was best for the show, there is no denying that the decision did split the fan base.

A certain subset of people felt that Chris should have been allowed to continue on the show, until an investigation had concluded that he was guilty.

Failure to do so meant that he was being subjected to cancel culture, at a time where the presumption of innocence until proven guilty should have taken precedence.

And this was reflected in the comments on social media. One person wrote: “What happened to innocent until proven guilty.” In reality, however, it was simply too much of a risk for the show to take.

There had been so much negative media scrutiny being subjected towards Chris that the show could have risked alienating the fan base if they decided to continue working with him.

Michael added: “Mr. Big and Chris Noth, they’re not the same person — and that would’ve made them the same person.”
