Some would argue that yes it certainly did. Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of the King of Rock n’ Roll, Elvis Presley, died at age 54 from cardiac arrest. Lisa Marie would have had a charmed life if her Dad had lived, but sadly that fairy tale came to an end at the tender age of 9 when he passed away suddenly.
According to Karen de la Carriere, who was Lisa Marie’s spiritual advisor said that Lisa Marie used drugs as a teen to forget the sorrow of losing her Dad and that Priscilla would often get exasperated with her because she was, in her words, a rebellious kid. Would we expect anything less from the King of Rock n’ Roll’s daughter? Probably not.
Did Finding Elvis Dead At 9 Have An Impact On Lisa Marie Presley’s Life?
According to de la Carriere, the mother-and-daughter relationship between Priscilla and Lisa Marie was not a very nurturing one. Rather, it was adversarial in nature. It could be argued that, probably, Priscilla didn’t exactly know what to do with her daughter so she turned to the church of Scientology for help. Lisa Marie went through the drug treatment programs offered by the church of Scientology as a teen.
Though, with all religion-based treatment programs there was probably only varying degrees of success there. Still, she worked to keep her battles with addiction largely out of the public eye, and who could blame her after the rumors swirled about her famous Father?
The sad thing is, is that her relationship with her Mother was never fully healed. They remained locked in what de la Carriere said was mortal combat until Presley died. She truly was a Daddy’s girl through and through. So far, Priscilla has not really addressed her daughter’s death, her representatives haven’t even spoken about it either which is a little odd but we’ll assume that she is taking time to grieve her daughter properly. Lisa Marie was precede in death by her son, Benjamin Keogh, and is survived by her husband and three remaining children.
