If there’s one thing ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers love it’s enjoying a character we shouldn’t, and that’s a testament to the writers and actors.
In this instance, we know we should be cheering on Theresa Donovan (Emily O’Brien)’s demise given her attempt to con her way into the Kiriakis fortune, but she’s been so vulnerable and lovable we can’t bring ourselves to do it.
We know it’s coming and she deserves it, but with everything she’s dealt with between her son being arrested, falling off the wagon, and actually falling in love with Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson), it’s hard to root against her.
In fact, we actually feel sorry for her. To a point.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers – Opening up
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers are used to Theresa being a con-woman and causing all sorts of issues with her plotting, but she’s also shown glimpses of the real her.
It’s the same formula we’ve seen so many times over the years and she’s hitting her stride as everything is coming together to make us appreciate her and hope she and Alex can find a way to make things work despite her lies.
We know it won’t happen, and that’s part of what makes her plight so tragic.
Alex isn’t ready for marriage like she is, but the fact that she could lose herself in him and fall so hard despite her con makes her story a tragedy.
But there’s always a chance.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers – Could she turn it around?
The only way for her to avoid being bounced out of Salem when her secret comes out is if she comes clean with Alex and takes her medicine.
Of course, either way her relationship with him will be over, but there is a chance that by coming clean Alex will understand and may be able to forgive her.
It’s a long shot, but anything’s possible in a soap opera, especially in Salem. And given Alex’s past, he may be more willing to overlook some of her lies than most.
It sounds good to speculate and hope for things to work out, but she upheaved his life with her lie and when the truth does come out he’ll have a lot of bridges to repair.
It’s not that he’s a bad guy, but having the Kiriakis empire dropped on his shoulders put him in a position where he feels he has to prove himself, and that betrayal along with the problems its caused between him and his family will be too much for her to overcome.
