‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers suggest that Stephanie Johnson’s (Abigail Klein) stalker storyline has continued to bore the audience senseless, but it also has glaring inconsistencies, and some of the plot points don’t make much sense.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Jada Didn’t Act Professionally with Jeremy
First, let’s talk about Jada Hunter’s (Elia Cantu) arrest of Jeremy Horton (Michael Roark). There must be some police procedure that involves obtaining a warrant for a suspect’s arrest before announcing to them that there’s so-called proof that they committed a crime.
Truthfully, Jada didn’t have enough proof that Jeremy was Stephanie’s stalker, since she had to bring him in for questioning to find out whether they committed a crime in the first place.
Additionally, when Jada asked Jeremy to tell his side of the story, she outright told him he was a liar. Jada is clearly too close to this case to be objective. Yet, she said that she didn’t want Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) on the case because he would be “too biased.”
Stephanie and Jada are BFFs; who on earth would be less objective than the victim’s best friend forever? It’s also weird as hell that Stephanie and Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) actually thought they received an engagement gift from EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel).
We know it’s not from EJ, and guess what? Stephanie and Alex should have also realized that. They started to question it, but not nearly enough.
Why would EJ send them a gift? How would he even know about their engagement when he was out of town? It makes no sense. It’s simply not EJ’s style to send a gift from Italy when he’s visiting his traumatized daughter.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Why Didn’t Steve, Alex, or Stephanie Think to Confirm with EJ that He Sent the Couple an Engagement Gift?
Since we have the impenetrable Black Patch on the case, Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) should have really thought to check whether the gift was indeed from EJ. It at least warranted a phone call.
Given everything that’s going on with the stalking and the letters, wouldn’t Stephanie, Alex, and Steve have figured out that it warranted a second thought? What if they opened the present and mysterious white powder spilled on them, or it was bugged?
So, as it turns out, the picture frame that EJ supposedly sent them was bugged, which also begs the question, who is setting up EJ? Why would whoever this mystery person stalking Stephanie choose to send a phony gift and name EJ as the giver?
Plus, since Jeremy was stuck at the Salem PD with zero evidence to back up Jada’s false claims, he couldn’t have been the person who sent the gift.
Jeremy is the red herring in this story. We all know that Owen Kent (Wes Ramsey), who was once obsessed with Stephanie and also kidnapped her at one point, is the perpetrator. And big surprise: he’s going to kidnap her again.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Stephanie’s Stalker Story Is Sorely Lacking In Suspense
There isn’t much suspense in this storyline. Not only has it been moving at a sloth’s pace, but we also know what the outcome will be if Alex accuses Jeremy, leaving Stephanie open for abduction.
Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) was absolutely right to stay at the police station and defend her cousin. It’s far too obvious that Jeremy isn’t guilty.
Jeremy is only a convenient suspect due to his abusive past with Stephanie. Perhaps if Stephanie mentions the picture frame to EJ, he can clue her in.
That said, the Salem PD tends to do an abysmal job at correctly gathering and examining evidence. If they had done a little more investigating or, I don’t know, actually looked more deeply into it, they may have found out Jeremy isn’t the person they need to be focused on.
I have nothing against Stephanie and Alex as a couple, but Stephanie is a legacy character, and she really needs to have a storyline where she’s not in constant danger or getting busy with Alex 24/7.
