‘Days of our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers find that the inevitable has finally happened, rapist Charlie has been offed and now police commissioner Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) will have his hands full sifting through the multitudes of suspects, all glad to see Charlie gone from this world.
But are DOOL fans so happy that he’s gone? Charlie, maybe, but actor Mike Manning has struck such a chord with fans that the wheels have begun to turn in head writer, Ron Carlivati’s head.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Is Charlie Dale (Mike Manning) gone for good?
Speaking with Soap Opera Digest, Carlivati confirmed that the Charlie storyline played out exactly as planned, with Tripp Dalton (Lucas Adams) being the initial suspect in Allie Horton’s (Lindsay Arnold) rape, then the discovery of Tripp and Charlie being half-brothers and the plot unfolding to prove that Charlie was the one who fathered Allie’s baby, Henry.
Carlivati also always meant for Charlie to be murdered.
“I never thought about changing the story,” Carlivati told Soap Opera Digest. “I always knew that I didn’t want to redeem the rapist; I wanted him to die.” He also revealed that Manning knew he had signed on for a limited contract, only.
However, no one really expected Manning to be so well received by fans, to which Carlivati teased, “Well, maybe he’s got a twin brother.”
Hmmm. Not sure how we feel about that. As much as we love watching Mike on our screens, can we really stomach another Stefan/Jake storyline?
While Carlivati and his team sort themselves out, Manning will still be seen on our screens, showing up in flashback of the night Charlie was shot. Spoilers have said that Charlie received plenty of visitors on the evening of his ultimate demise, so good luck, Detective Hernandez!
