Dave Chappelle is reportedly not letting the attack that had occurred on him, during his performance for the ‘Netflix Is A Joke’ festival, impact his career.
Dave Chappelle Comes Out Fighting After Being Attacked-‘He Refuses To Allow Last Night’s Incident To Overshadow The Magic’
According to reports, Dave had been performing at the festival on Tuesday, 3rd May 2022. Then out of nowhere, the attacker Isaiah Lee made the decision to pull a replica gun that had allegedly included a folded blade.
While Dave could be forgiven for being shaken up, despite not having been injured, it seems that the comedian has come out of it much stronger. So much so that it has become an iconic moment in his career.
In a statement made on behalf of Dave, his representative Carla Sims said: “The performances by Chappelle at the Hollywood Bowl were epic and record-breaking and he refuses to allow last night’s incident to overshadow the magic of this historic moment.”
Much in the same way, this is precisely what happened to Chris Rock when it came to Will Smith’s slapgate incident. Chris has managed to ride off the wave of publicity that has been generated since then to the point where he has developed many new fans.
After all, Chris was praised for the manner in which he had managed to keep his cool. With that being said, it is possible to draw parallels between Dave and Chris. And by the looks of it, the ticket sales have done the talking.
Carla added: “Dave Chappelle celebrated four nights of comedy and music, setting record-breaking sales for a comedian at the Hollywood Bowl. This run ties Chappelle with Monty Python for the most headlined shows by any comedian at the Hollywood Bowl.”
Even if Dave does end up becoming more popular, as a result of this, there is no denying that comedians are now entering into troubled waters. It has gotten to the point where there is a serious danger that people can end up becoming hurt simply because of jokes that they have made.
