Maksim Chmerkovskiy has revealed how he felt guilty over leaving Ukraine amid the country’s war with Ukraine.

Maksim, for his part, had been stuck in the country as his attempts to leave were faced with many obstacles. This included him being arrested, as well as having to deal with the fact that he had a wife and child waiting for him at home which was adding additional stress.
While he managed to make it out of the country and his way into Poland by train, the star felt an element of guilt given that there were other people who may not have managed to do the same. In a post to his fans on Instagram, he said: “I felt wrong leaving.
“I still feel guilty being on that train. I don’t know if they’re dead.” Maksim’s comments are understandable, given that the ordeal is still very fresh. However, there is no reason why he should feel guilty over fleeing a country that was being bombed.
Unless he was going to join the armed forces and take action on the battlefield, then the only way that he could be of use is to offer help from outside the country. After all, he is a star with a huge public platform which suggests that he can at the very least speak out, or work to collaborate with relief organisations that are providing aid to those affected.
With that being said, he urged Russian citizens to stand up to Russian President Vladimir Putin, or risk suffering at his hands for a very long time. He added: “Putin is finished. Someone needs to finish him because he is finished.
“So, Russians do your thing. Because it’s going to take 30 years for Russia to not be associated with evil.” The most important thing is that Maksim managed to leave the country without suffering any harm.
And now that he has managed to do so, he can turn his attention towards continuing the work he has done to encourage people to get behind the people of Ukraine. So there you have it folks.
