Criminal charges have not been ruled out in the shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Alec Baldwin’s indie film ‘Rust’. While no one has been arrested for the incident yet, nothing has been ruled out just yet. Juan Rios, a public information officer for Santa Fe said that if crew members who were on set have information, they need to come forward now.
Rios told the New York Post,
“There are a lot of things flying around on the internet and honestly if people have information, they need to bring it to us instead of going to whomever. Bring it to us so we can follow up and check into that because if you have valid information, we want it, but the only way we can check it out is if you tell us.”
Criminal Charges Haven’t Been Ruled Out In Fatal Shooting On ‘Rust’ Film Set
Rios has also said that detectives are taking this slow and methodical as they continue to investigate the incident. On Monday they filed an inventory list of items that had been seized from the film set, including revolvers and ammunition. This doesn’t mean that Alec Baldwin or others on the set will be charged in Hutchins’ killing, but nothing is out of the question either as it is still early in the investigation.
People are speculating that this is much more than an accident and that the loaded gun winding up in front of the camera and firing was a conscious decision by someone. Meanwhile, others are positive it was an accident that could have happened on other film sets. However, wielding and firing a loaded fun at someone has many more complications to it.
