Courtney Stodden, who uses she/they pronouns, has slammed the movie ‘Blonde’ that aims to tell the story of Marilyn Monroe.

The film stars Ana de Armas as the lead character, but it has already divided the public with accusations that the movie comes across in a misogynistic manner.

And given that Courtney has made it clear she is a massive fan of Monroe, coupled with the fact that Courtney understood what it is like to be exploited, she made it clear that she was not watching the film.

Courtney’s following comments confirmed as much: “I will not be watching. As somebody who understands what it feels like to be exploited in a sexual way and then have people turn you into a joke when you are not a joke. I think diving into that is a little disrespectful.”

Much in the same way, the film has flopped amongst the movie critics. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the film received a 2 out of 5 stars, with around a 40 percent rating on the tomatometer. That is extremely disappointing for a movie that had aimed to smash the box office. With that being said, the critics did not hold back.

New York Times film critic Manohla Dargis bashed the movie. She said: “Given all the indignities and horrors that Marilyn Monroe endured during her 36 years, it is a relief that she didn’t have to suffer through the vulgarities of ‘Blonde,’ the latest necrophiliac entertainment to exploit her.”

The response on social media was much the same. A significant proportion of fans were outraged by the movie, as they felt it demeaned Marilyn’s legacy. One person wrote: “It fetishizes rape, over and over.

“She suffered with endometriosis and they made it out that it was her fault for losing those pregnancies like a careless idiot.” It is fair to say that the movie has not lived up to its expectations. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
