Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have given their take on the news that the hit TV show Counting On will no longer be on the air.

The series was cancelled after the producers decided that it could not continue in light of Josh Duggar’s arrest. The former had been arrested on charges related to the possession of sexual/pornographic images of children.
Although a trial is set to go ahead to determine whether or not Josh will be declared guilty, the producers felt it was right to remove any media attention from the family to make sure they were fine. But with that came some very deep emotions. In a statement given on their website, the couple confirmed how the news was hard to take.
They said: “It is hard to believe that more than 17 years have passed since we were first contacted by a production company wanting to do a one-hour documentary about the logistics of raising 14 children.” Looking back, who could blame them? After all, they had forged so many memories on the show.
They had seen their children go through many difficult moments but also seen them have many happy ones. The show has given fans an insight into the most intimate moments of the family’s lives, including weddings and pregnancies. That is why they will remain grateful to the show that has given them so many opportunities.
She added: “Our family has grown (and grown-up!) before our eyes and on national television, and the journey has been miraculous—following God is an exciting adventure!” And yet, this may not be the last time that the family does collaborate with the network.
Everyone is waiting to see the conclusion of Josh’s trial in order to determine what their next moves should be. With the increasing likelihood that Josh may end up going to prison, the family will have to be on hand to make sure that adequate arrangements are in place for the worst possible moments.
And their following comments confirmed as much: “We look forward to discovering what’s next for our family and sharing more with you along the way!”
