Derick Dillard sure won’t be getting any invites to Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s house for the holiday season this year but with the way things are going for their family right now, it’s doubtful that he would even want it.
There’s a new report that says Jill Duggar’s husband is apparently throwing his support behind the #CancelTheDuggars movement after Josh Duggar was arrested but then released on bail for possession of child explicit material. Here’s what you need to know.
Counting On: Derick Dillard Throws His Support For The #CancelTheDuggars Movement
Derick says that the public was apparently “deceived” by the Duggar family after Josh’s molestation scandal back in 2015. After Josh plead not guilty to possessing child pornographic material, many critics and fans alike took to their social media accounts to express either their shock or dismay over the matter.
These also happened to be the same tweets that Derick both liked and responded to over the weekend.
In fact, when one fan said it would be unfair to cancel “Counting On” because it had nothing to do with Josh, Derick explained that while the show was supposed to focus on Jill and Jessa Duggar’s lives as new mothers, TLC ended up giving more air time to their parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, in an attempt to rebrand 19 Kids & Counting.
“Yes, that’s exactly what they called it — a rebranding. Same business structure as 19K&C (I.e., one person makes the decisions for all and one person got paid) but it would be ‘rebranded’ to make people think it was different,” Derick epxlained. “We pushed back often, and we were threatened often.”
“If you’ll notice, we refused to go to the photo shoot for the intro of the show, ‘Jill & Jessa: Counting On,'” he continued. “That’s why we weren’t in the intro, but had to do the shows. Finally, we called their bluff and quit. Will explain more later in a different context.”
When one fan said that the molestation scandal was handled quite well by the Duggars, that’s when Derick began to lash out.
“How do you know how it was handled? It was not handled well,” he wrote. “The public was deceived. Their plan worked. And we were told to keep filming and keep our mouths shut. We called their bluff and left.”
He went on to like tweets reading, “[TLC] need to cut all ties today. Like this minute” and another showing Josh’s arrest report reading, “The Duggars need to be removed from @tlc now. RIGHT NOW! This is beyond disgusting.”
