Amy Duggar has opened up on her prior experiences of being in an abusive relationship.

‘Counting On’: Amy Duggar Speaks Out On Her Prior Abusive Relationships

Amy, for her part, is now happily married to her husband, Dillon King. But things were not always this way. She was a shadow of the woman who is now known for being very outspoken.

And given that she has managed to come unscathed through it all, she is making sure that she leaves behind a voice for those who may be going through similar problems.

In a post to her fans on Instagram, Amy shared a picture of herself showing her hand to the camera. On her hand, we can see the word ‘Enough’ in reference to being a victim of abuse.

The post was captioned with the following comments: “I dated a guy before I was married…He asked if we could go talk in the hallway.

“And the second we got away from people, he grabbed me by the neck and grabbed my hair and hit my head against the wall several times and told me to never make him look bad again.”

And that experience left her feeling mentally scarred for some time. She admitted that her confidence took a huge battering and made it impossible for her to tell anyone what she was going through.

But through it all, she found the courage to leave him but not before she suffered at his hands. She added: “I tried to apologize to him.

“But he became furious, broke a vase and then got into his family vault and showed me the ring he had for me and tossed it in the yard. I knew I couldn’t live with that.”

This has taught Amy that taking action is the best way to combat these problems, regardless of how scared a person may be feeling. And in order to do that, it is vital to have a support network in place to deal with the fallout that can emerge.

Her following comments confirmed as much: “If you are married or dating someone who threatens your security in any aspect, LEAVE. Escape their wrath and their manipulation and control.”
