It has been a shocking few weeks for Coronation Street fans as they have watched on in disbelief at the way that Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) has been treated by her new husband, Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholemew). But, could Geoff be in for a shock as his plan begins to backfire?
He has successfully been able to take Yasmeen’s credit and debit cards away from her as he admitted that he had fears that she was an alcoholic. It was clear to fans that Yasmeen was not actually an alcoholic, but he is trying to manipulate her. But, as she attends regular AA meetings, could Geoff’s real motive about to come out?

Geoff’s admittance to his and Yasmeen’s friends that she was an alcoholic may eventually be his downfall. He admitted to Yasmeen during last week’s episodes that he had a bad previous relationship that was affected by alcohol, as Tim’s mother was also a problem drinker. It isn’t yet known whether that was in fact true.
He has stuck to his story however and even confessed all to Brian Packham (Peter Gunn). However, he couldn’t give quiet and wanted to help Yasmeen, which meant enlisting the help of Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne). Peter has endured problems with alcohol in the past, and he was quickly around to Yasmeen’s to offer advice.

Peter himself hasn’t been any saint over the past year, as the factory collapse and the mental health of Carla Connor (Alison King) put him back onto the booze. However, he has been able to stay clean after one brief relapse, as he continues to help Carla through her troubles. He suggested that they both go to an AA meeting and talk about their problems.
At this AA meeting when Yasmeen is talking about home life, Peter quickly becomes aware that she actually isn’t an alcoholic, and instead, Geoff is making her believe that she is one. But, can Peter finally get through to her and unleash her from the grip that Geoff has on her?
