ITV ‘Coronation Street’ Spoilers reveal there have been many iconic characters in Coronation Street throughout its 60-year history, but maybe none more so than Liz McDonald. Beverly Callard has played the character for nearly 30 years, but she shocked fans late last year after she admitted that she was calling time on her stay in Weatherfield.
She first appeared on the soap in 1989, but fans are already wondering whether the door will be left open for her to return in the future. However, Callard has already admitted that the possibility of Liz finding love and leaving Weatherfield isn’t a departure that she would think would be good for the character.

When Callard made the announcement in November, she admitted that the prospect of working on new projects was the thing that appealed to her most. However, delay looks almost certain for the departure at present. As she was initially scheduled to film her final scenes in July.
However, that date will be pushed back until at least after the summer due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus. The spread of the virus around the United Kingdom has seen Coronation Street and EastEnders both halt filming. At least fans can take solace in the fact that Liz will be around for just a while longer.

There haven’t been many more loved characters in Weatherfield that Liz over the past 60 years. She is witty and has that northern sense of humour that you could only find in Coronation Street. Fans especially love scenes involving the trio of Liz, Steve McDonald and Tracy Barlow. The three of them bounce off each other in a way that can’t be seen on other soaps.
Fans will be hoping that she will finally get her happily ever after, as she has been unlucky in love throughout her stay in Weatherfield. Most recently, she was scammed by her ex-husband Jim, who claimed to have found their daughter Kate. Viewers can hope for a happy send-off.
