Comedy clubs have responded to the recent attack on Dave Chappelle by urging everyone to do more in order to protect comics.

Comedy Clubs DEMAND Protection For Comedians Following The Attack On Dave Chappelle-‘We’ve Got To Stop Violence’

Dave, for his part, had been performing for the ‘Netflix Is A Joke’ festival on Tuesday, 3rd May 2022. During the course of that process, the defendant Isaiah Lee made an attempt to attack Dave with a reported replica gun that included a folding blade.

While the former has been arrested since then, on another day, who knows what could have happened. Jamie Masada, who happens to be the owner of Laugh Factory, told Fox News the following: “It’s a sad, sad thing happening right now.

“People are going on the stage just trying to make a name for themselves…We’ve got to stop violence. We’ve got to bring people together. Laughter is supposed to bring people together.”

Jamie’s comments merely highlight the worrying trend that has developed in response to the comedy industry. The presence of cancel culture has made it difficult for comedians, who have ultimately had to second-guess their material, despite the fact that freedom of speech is an inherent part of expressing oneself.

But it has now bordered on the verge of insanity, with comedians being attacked, which was initially instigated by Will Smith’s slapgate incident at the Oscars against Chris Rock. Jamie stated: “And I think what Will Smith did actually encouraged the violence and that’s a horrible thing.”

Despite the horrifying incident, Dave did come out and respond to show that he had not been impacted by what had happened. Dave had mocked the attacker by claiming it ‘was a Trans man.’ Not only that, but Chris Rock responded by bringing up the most talked-about incident of his career. He said: “Was that Will Smith?”

It is clear that something needs to be done to prevent attacks like this from happening, but it remains unclear on what that should be. Time will tell. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
