Sarah Silverman has apologized after previously making jokes about Paris Hilton  after the latter was charged with driving under influence.

Comedian Sarah Silverman Issues Apology To Paris Hilton For An Pleasant Joke She Had Made

In an episode of The Sarah Silverman Podcast, she revealed how she had regretted it immediately. She said: “I regretted the jokes not years later, but kind of immediately. So, here I am, 14 years later, telling you, Paris, that I am really sorry. I was then, and I am, much more completely and with far more understanding, I think, now.”

Sarah, for her part, did try to apologize immediately, and she made an earnest effort to do so. She had written a letter to Paris, lamenting her actions, but unfortunately, Paris did not receive it. She added: “I remember spotting her in the audience, I really do, and I remember seeing that look on her face, and my heart sank. There was a person under there. A couple days later, I wrote her a letter apologizing, felt awful, and I never heard back. I certainly wouldn’t expect to anyways.”

So when did this all start? Well, in 2007 and it was during that time which Sarah made some harsh comments. She mocked Paris with the following: “I heard that to make her feel comfortable in prison, the guards are going to paint the bars to look like penises. I just worry that she’s gonna break her teeth on those things.”

So why was an apology needed? Apparently, the impact of the joke was more than just jest. The reaction was so bad that Paris was mentally affected by it. And given that she is always in the public eye, it struck a chord that was hard to forget. When addressing the joke, Paris said: “[I] literally wanted to run out of the entire room, but I just was trying to be strong and sit there as the whole audience was laughing. It was so painful, especially with what I was going through in my life, to then have people be so mean about it. It was really hard.”

Let us see if Paris will comment and accept this apology. If you enjoyed reading this article, then make sure you check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish. Please also visit TVRocker for all of the latest exciting news on all of your favourite daytime television soaps.
