Comedian Ricky Gervais made it absolutely clear that he has no intention of ever hosting the Golden Globes again.

During his last hosting gig in 2020, Gervais certainly left an impression with the audience as he called out the Hollywood industry, including Harvey Weinstein. In addition, Gervais bashed major companies such as Amazon and Apple by questioning their ethical practices.
Just when you thought that was controversial enough, Gervais took things to another level. He suggested that people in the audience were friends with Jeffrey Epstein, the man who reportedly committed suicide after being implicated in sex trafficking.
With that being said, Ricky ruled out the prospect of hosting. In a clip of him hosting, Gervais replied simply with “F— that.” Nevertheless, there is always a possibility that Ricky could return provided that his demands were met.
He recently expanded on how he would want full control over his jokes. In addition, he expressed concerns about the recent cancel culture which he felt would ultimately impact him. And with these restrictions in place, Ricky does not see a situation where he gets to the stage once again.
His following comments confirmed as much: “They’d never let me do what I wanted. I’d get canceled halfway through. I mean that’s why the Globes got me. They said I could write my own jokes and say what I wanted, no rehearsals.”
The fans on social media made their position very clear. A large proportion of them wanted Gervais to take up the hosting duties once again, but they also recognised that this was not going to be possible.
One person wrote: “PLEASE WE BEG YOU RICKY YOU ARE OUR ONLY HOPE,” while another person stated: “Our only saving grace for pure Entertainment & Catertainment ..Ricky Gervais.”
